Saab Turbo X in 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show
The Scandinavian’s simplistic and sophisticated design is very evident in the latest offering of the Swedish automaker Saab tagged as the Saab Turbo X. This high-end model has recently graced the first press day of the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show.
In 1977, the turbocharged Saab model has made its debut in the same Germany-held auto show as the Saab 99 Turbo. Exactly thirty years later, an upgraded and more powerful Saab Turbo X, which has an all-wheel-drive system, was presented to the world media. That day marked the birth of the turbocharged technology in the automobile industry. According to Saab, this auto great find is the means of extracting more power and efficiency from production engine. In addition to that, a vehicle that has been equipped with such technology will have a much lightweight engine. Moreover, aside from weighing less, this turbocharged engine is way smaller and more fuel efficient compared to those non-turbo engines. The turbocharged engine also derives more power by exploiting the engine coming form an engine’s exhaust gas flow. With that process engine process, wasted energy is sure to be recycled because of this engine technology found in the Saab’s Turbocharged model.
Where did this Swedish company got the idea of equipping turbocharged engines in vehicles? From Saab’s aircraft design background, the automaker took the idea of the turbocharged engines, which are utilized to endure the effects of thin air during flight. Moreover, Saab’s trucks have already been using turbochargers that have heavy-duty diesel engines even before this technology has reached the company’s passenger cars.
Aside from the turbocharging technology, the Swedish automaker has also a strong commitment in trimming down the Carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels by equipping the vehicle with the Saab BioPower engines. This technology will not only minimize the noxious emissions, but will still provide more power for the automobile.
